Network Deploy Technician , Global Network Delivery (GND)
About the role
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. As a Network Deploy Technician, you will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network.
You will collaborate with people across AWS to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The position includes scaling support of several data center locations and day-to-day assistance with capacity management, working closely with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution.
Responsibilities
- Managing work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects
- Collaborating with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles
- Troubleshooting networking, routing and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords
- Specifying Power and Cooling requirements and ensuring Hardware Racking/Stacking completed for new equipment
- Participating in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
- Traveling within and outside of regional work area (reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license required)
- Establishing and following best practices and refining operational procedures
- Providing after-hours support as needed and participating in primary responder rotation
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
- Work in an environment that operates 24/7 with ability to provide after-hours support
- Work in cramped and/or elevated and/or noisy environments
- Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
Requirements
- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
- Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
- Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience in similar technical roles
- Work authorization without employer intervention (Amazon is not able to provide sponsorship now or in the future)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
- Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
- Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)

Pay
USA, OH, Johnstown - $30.91 - $54.18 USD hourly
