As an apprentice, you will gain HVAC knowledge and learn firsthand from industry-leading professionals. We provide factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA) and equip you with tools and a vehicle to perform your job at the highest standard. You will serve as a trusted advisor to our customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
Responsibilities
- Train and perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
- Participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy to build skill sets for recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement.
- Develop troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues and customer needs through coaching and mentorship.
- Keep Johnson Controls, contractors, and customers advised of job progress and issues as needed.
- Meet attendance requirements for required Union training during the first year.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Prioritize safety in all aspects of the role.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- 1+ years of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally and ethically to customers and outside contacts.
- Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment.
- Self-starter with the ability to eventually work independently.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of trade school or college with a technical emphasis.
Pay
$21-$31 hourly rate, determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) rate sheet. The posted range reflects the target compensation for this role, though exceptional candidates with unique skills may be considered beyond this range.
