Apprentices will participate in certified training through our Service Technical Academy (STA) that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement. Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Train and perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
- Keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
- Meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
- Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
- Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
- Prioritize safety in all forms.
- This position requires a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
Preferred 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.
Pay
$25.83 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.

Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
This is a Bargaining Unit Position but is subject to all pre-hiring screening of JCI. With successful performance, JCI may recommend you to the Union Local apprenticeship program, as well as continued employment at JCI. Acceptance by Union Local must occur within 365 days of employment or will result in termination of this position. This is not a guaranty of employment or entering the Union. The Union has its own entry, qualification & screening programs.
