Key job responsibilities

  • Logistics Operations Leader: Ensure the organization runs smoothly, ensuring service meets customer and business expectations daily, monthly, and yearly.
  • Develop performance goals and objectives to achieve customer promise expectations and ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Build and execute productivity plans by reviewing work forecasts, determining productivity requirements, and partnering with other Logistics Managers to balance labor.
  • Determine timelines that meet business and customer expectations; ensure they are met.
  • Partner with the management team to establish and maintain quality control standards.
  • Remove roadblocks and obstacles for major initiatives.
  • Logistics Business Leader: Act as a Logistics business leader by communicating and escalating to internal and external teams/customers within his/her respective area.
  • The primary developer of team strategies, vision, and goals for their team in alignment with the broader organization.
  • Ensure operational practices are fully compliant with legislation and policy.
  • Generate and/or filter information from higher levels of management to their teams.
  • Create, manage, and support recognition and communication programs.
  • Logistics People Leader: Act as a logistics people leader by managing and driving staffing plans, schedules, quality initiatives, performance levels, and process change initiatives.
  • The primary facilitator of team coordination and cohesion.
  • Maintain a strong focus on personal and team growth and development.
  • A strong supporter of projects outside of day-to-day operations.
  • Distribute new opportunities fairly amongst the team when available.
  • Hold regularly scheduled 1:1's with a focus on personal development.
  • Ensure accountability and documentation on coaching opportunities.
  • Process Improver: Champion continuous improvement by proactively driving process standardization and continuous improvement across the org.
  • Contribute to operational deployment plans outlining critical and best practice launch activities.
  • Teach how to create documents, processes, tools, and metrics that reflect outcomes.
  • Conduct post-deployment evaluations to measure launch effectiveness (PDSA).
  • Advise team members on process improvement strategies.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of logistics operations experience
  • 2+ years of shipping & receiving, inventory, and warehousing practices experience
  • 5+ years of work in a management position with 5 or more direct reports experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing inventory in warehousing, retail, or distribution setting
  • Experience in transportation operations and industry knowledge
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Experience in computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems
