Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast-paced technology company and a leader in the world of data centers. We are growing rapidly and seeking a Cluster Operations Leader to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. This senior management role oversees Amazon Data Center Clusters and Colocation Operations within an assigned region, focusing on safety, security, availability, scaling, efficiency, and cost management.

Infrastructure Operations consists of two core functions: Data Center Operations (DCO) and Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO). DCO manages server-level platforms supporting Amazon Retail and AWS, while DCEO handles mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical environments. A physical security team works closely with these functions to protect people, assets, and customer data.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the equipment ensuring our customers have continual access to innovation. You’ll collaborate with diverse teams of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver high standards for safety, security, and capacity at the lowest possible cost.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, manage, and develop the operations team, including compute and engineering operations managers, and their teams
  • Achieve organizational performance goals for safety, security, availability, scaling, efficiency, and cost
  • Plan and execute Infrastructure Operations for new Data Centers and Colocation expansions
  • Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and controls systems in Amazon Data Centers, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management
  • Manage Colocation Data Centers service providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLAs
  • Lead safety, security, and availability incident response, management, and resolution
  • Continuously improve operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of relevant management experience in Data Centers operations, facility engineering operations, information technology critical environment facilities, advanced high-volume manufacturing, datacenter buildouts and scaling, or similar experience
  • Demonstrated track record in delivering complex analytical and quantitative projects through verbal and written communication
  • Proven ability to hire, develop, and manage high-performing geographically distributed technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Substantial knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems in a critical or controlled environment
  • Broad knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, technologies and architectures, IT service delivery principles and best practices

Pay

USA, IN, New Carlisle - $170,000.00 - $265,000.00 USD annually
