About the role

The Dance Enrichment Specialist inspires creativity and fosters a love for the arts in participants of all ages. This full-time position develops and leads engaging dance programs that promote self-expression, critical thinking, and personal growth in a welcoming, inclusive environment. The role aligns programs with the YMCA’s mission and offers the opportunity to nurture creativity, build confidence, and strengthen community connections through the arts.

After School Program Dates:
San Francisco Sites: August 11, 2025 – June 3, 2026
Marin Sites: August 18, 2025 – June 13, 2026

Schedule: Monday-Friday, including some evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging dance programs and activities for participants of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Incorporate diverse artistic mediums and techniques to promote creativity and self-expression.
  • Regularly assess and update program content to maintain relevance and effectiveness.
  • Ensure dance programs align with the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
  • Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and guidance to help participants develop artistic skills.
  • Offer constructive feedback to encourage growth and confidence.
  • Create opportunities for participants to highlight their work through exhibitions, community events, or projects.
  • Organize and maintain program supplies, ensuring materials are available, safe, and used efficiently.
  • Manage program budgets effectively, if applicable.
  • Ensure a safe environment by adhering to YMCA policies and best practices for program delivery.
  • Monitor and address safety concerns during activities.
  • Build positive relationships with participants, families, and community members to strengthen engagement in the arts.
  • Stay informed on current trends and best practices in dance education and enrichment.
  • Participate in YMCA trainings and meetings as required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The role operates in dynamic, collaborative classrooms and community spaces, fostering an inspiring and inclusive environment for artistic expression. Regular interaction with children, teens, and adults in both individual and group settings is required.

  • Frequently stand, walk, or move around the workspace during activities.
  • Occasionally lift and carry supplies or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Engage in activities requiring manual dexterity, such as handling tools or setting up materials.

Requirements

  • Must successfully complete a background screening, including criminal and employment verification.
  • Some positions may require a credit check.

Pay

Competitive hourly rate of $25.00 to $33.00, based on qualifications and experience.
