Dairy Manager

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all functions and activities of the dairy and frozen department to achieve sales, gross profit, customer service and labor goals.
• Develop and implement plans for maximizing sales, gross profits and overall results in the department.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal health and labor laws, OSHA regulations and EEOC requirements to ensure a safe and discrimination-free work environment.
• Regularly check equipment, coolers, refrigeration equipment, freezers, etc. to ensure they are in proper working order (e.g., motors free of dust, temperatures in proper range).
• Become familiar with all products carried in the department, including differences between varieties and types of dairy and frozen products.
• Order and maintain inventory control to ensure freshness, product quality (e.g., temperature), expiration date standards and turnover.
• Follow approved procedures for ordering, receiving product, price marking, dating and restocking cases to ensure quality protection (e.g., temperature).
• Check and verify department merchandise received to ensure all items listed on vendor invoices are delivered and meet quality standards.
• Review all new products with the General Manager and/or Director of Operations.
• Promptly and efficiently handle all customer and employee complaints.
• Interview, hire, train and evaluate a productive team through supervision, work delegation and appropriate rewards and discipline.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous dairy management experience required.
• Must be able to work early mornings, nights and weekends.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Food Management Certification preferred.
• Must be able to stand and/or walk for 8 or more hour periods.
• Must be able to regularly bend, lift and/or move 25 pounds.
• Must be able to frequently bend, lift and/or move 50 pounds.
• Must be able to occasionally bend, lift and/or move 75 pounds (with assistance).
• Ability to work in cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to reach and move items above shoulder height.
• Ability to multitask, maintain a positive attitude and problem solve.
