Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in assigned courses in accordance with the master course syllabus, stated learning outcomes, and departmental guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain course syllabi, develop instructional materials, and design assessments that promote student learning.
  • Engage students through active and inclusive teaching strategies, provide timely feedback, and foster a supportive classroom environment.
  • Teach courses in a variety of instructional modalities—including in-person, online, hybrid, or hyflex—and may teach on different days and at various times, including evenings and weekends, depending on departmental needs.
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently while maintaining accurate records of grades and attendance.
  • Support students through appropriate and accessible means of communication outside of class times.
  • Participate in required orientation sessions, professional development, or departmental training.

Qualifications

  • Required Education and Experience:
    • Master’s Degree or PhD in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Family and Consumer Sciences Education, or Bilingual Education.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Demonstrated experience teaching post-secondary experience.
    • Experience with media, evolving instructional technologies, and distance learning programs.
    • Teaching philosophy that aligns with the DACC mission and values.
    • Bilingual competence in English and Spanish (considered an asset).
