PART TIME FACULTY POOL - CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Barstow Community College is an open-access, comprehensive two-year institution serving a diverse student population in the Mojave region of San Bernardino County, California. Established in 1959, the Barstow Community College District (BCCD) encompasses a vast service area, stretching from the Nevada border on the East to Kern County on the West, and from Inyo County in the North to the San Bernardino Mountain range in the South. BCCD serves the communities of Barstow, Lenwood, Newberry Springs, Daggett, Yermo, Hinkley, Ludlow and Baker. The institution also maintains a satellite learning center at the U.S. Army National Training Center in Ft. Irwin, California, which serves military personnel and their families.
About the Role
The Barstow Community College District is continuously recruiting for part-time (up to 67%), substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Part-Time faculty applications will remain in the pool for one year. The hiring manager will contact applicants for interviews if the department/division is interested in scheduling an interview. Departments will refer to the pool of applications on file to fill temporary assignments.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses at the community college level, including online and off-campus sites at Fort Irwin.
- Develop and implement curriculum and instructional materials.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback.
- Maintain current knowledge of educational trends and best practices.
- Participate in professional development activities.
Requirements
- Master's in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education, or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education.
- Bachelor's in any of the above and master's in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the community college level.
