Cytotechnologist - Full Time - Days

Responsibilities
- Perform duties of a Cytotechnologist.
- Achieve set benchmarks and standards, including a discrepancy rate within 2SD of lab mean, meeting CLIA requirements, and accurately performing and evaluating staining quality.
- Accurately perform and evaluate tests/analyses requested on patient specimens, respond to special needs and requests, and comply with PPE guidelines.
- Routine maintenance is completed and documented 100%, and slides are available for easy retrieval.
- Identify and address problems, initiate follow-up with Section Leader or Medical Director(s), and accommodate patient and laboratory needs.
- Utilize time efficiently, prioritize workload demands, and develop, implement, and document orientation, training, and education.
- Assist in training new and existing staff, including reviewing and completing orientation checklists and skill/training checklists.
- Communicate process/procedural changes, educate staff, and assist with training UNMC cytology students.
- Participate in inspections, proficiency testing, and maintain records to fulfill accreditation requirements.
- Assist with problem resolution and follow-up reports for proficiency tests, assist with reviewing/revise procedure manuals, and assist with quality control and QA activities.
- Maintain open communication internally and externally to coordinate activities and provide quality laboratory services.
- Facilitate the efficiency and effectiveness of the section through interpersonal skills in communication, cooperation, and assisting coworkers.
Qualifications
- Completion of an approved cytotechnology program.
- One year's experience preferred.
- Current national certification as a cytotechnologist (CT) required.
- Computer skills required.
