Responsibilities
- Accessions and processes gynecological specimens for microscopic evaluation.
- Assigns accession numbers and performs Thin Prep Processing.
- Fulfills all local, Business Unit, and corporate safety policies, ensuring compliance with the Cytology Prep Lab.
- Disposes and labels biohazard waste according to protocols.
- Collaborates with other departments and colleagues to solve problems.
- Maintains specimen identification and integrity throughout the department’s processes.
- Completes all assignments independently with minimal supervision.
- Maintains great attention to detail and composure in challenging situations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Preferred: 1 year of Anatomic Pathology experience.
- Desirable but not required: Anatomic Pathology experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current state licensure, if applicable.
About the Role
Under general supervision, the Assistant Cytopreparatory Technician is proficient in all functions required of the position. They are directly responsible for decision-making, interactions, and reporting to the Cytology Prep Team Leader/Supervisor and/or Manager.
