Cytopreparatory Technician I

Responsibilities

• Accessions and processes gynecological specimens for microscopic evaluation.
• Assigns accession numbers and performs Thin Prep Processing.
• Fulfills all local, Business Unit, and corporate safety policies, ensuring compliance with the Cytology Prep Lab.
• Disposes and labels biohazard waste according to protocols.
• Collaborates with other departments and colleagues to solve problems.
• Maintains specimen identification and integrity throughout the department’s processes.
• Completes all assignments independently with minimal supervision.
• Maintains great attention to detail and composure in challenging situations.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Preferred: 1 year of Anatomic Pathology experience.
• Desirable but not required: Anatomic Pathology experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current state licensure, if applicable.

About the Role

Under general supervision, the Assistant Cytopreparatory Technician is proficient in all functions required of the position. They are directly responsible for decision-making, interactions, and reporting to the Cytology Prep Team Leader/Supervisor and/or Manager.
