Cytopreparatory Technician I
Responsibilities
- Accessions and processes gynecological specimens for microscopic evaluation.
- Assigns accession numbers and performs Thin Prep Processing.
- Fulfills safety protocols and ensures compliance within the Cytology Prep Lab.
- Disposes and labels biohazardous waste according to regulations.
- Solves minimal problems that arise during specimen handling and processing.
- Maintains accurate and complete documentation of all specimens.
- Collaborates with other departments and colleagues to resolve issues.
- Ensures high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
- Performs all assigned duties with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Preferred: 1 year of Anatomic Pathology experience.
- Desirable: Anatomic Pathology experience, but not required.
- Physical requirements: Finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination, handling of specimens and supplies, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Mental requirements: Ability to work in a chemical environment, handle potential exposure to infectious materials, and manage stress in challenging situations.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Licenses and Certifications: Current state licensure, if applicable.
About the Role
Under general supervision, the position is proficient in all of the functions required of the Assistant Cytopreparatory Technician. They are directly responsible for decision-making, interacting, and reporting to the Cytology Prep Team Leader/Supervisor and/or Manager.

Pay and Schedule
Pay range: $17.20+ per hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.
