Cytopathologist/Surgical Pathologist
About the Role
PathGroup is seeking an AP/CP and Cytopathology Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Pathologist to join our hospital-based team supporting Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The role includes sign-out of surgical pathology cases, non-gynecologic cytopathology, and shared on-call responsibilities. Hospital-based services such as frozen sections and rapid onsite cytology evaluations are also performed.
This position is eligible for J-1 and H-1B visa sponsorship, if needed.
Responsibilities
- Primary sign-out of cytopathology cases (non-gynecologic focus)
- Participation in general surgical pathology sign-out
- Perform rapid onsite evaluation (ROSE) for cytology procedures
- Perform frozen sections and intraoperative consultations
- Participate in shared call responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams and participate in tumor boards
- Support quality initiatives and clinical excellence
About the Practice
Hospital-based pathology team supporting Erlanger Health System, a large tertiary care referral center and comprehensive cancer program. Erlanger is the teaching hospital for the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga.
- Case mix includes non-gynecologic cytopathology, surgical pathology, and subspecialty cases
- Frozen sections and rapid onsite evaluation (ROSE) performed onsite
- Shared call responsibilities across the pathology team
- Subspecialty expertise includes GI, Neuropathology, Pediatrics, Cytopathology, Hematopathology, Genitourinary, Breast, and Bone/Soft Tissue
- Advanced digital pathology platform supporting remote sign-out capabilities where appropriate
- Strong culture of collaboration, consultation, and peer support
- No autopsy requirement
