Cytotechnologist Responsibilities Receive cytology specimens and verify proper patient identification, accessioning, and labeling.Complete all documentation associated with specimen accessioning and reporting.Prepare slides for cytological evaluation in accordance with established standard operating procedures.Examine cellular samples for abnormalities in the color, shape, size, and pattern of cellular components.Refer slides containing abnormal cellular structures to pathologists for further evaluation.Provide relevant clinical data and microscopic findings to support pathology reporting.Evaluate specimens microscopically to confirm specimen quality and adequacy.Follow laboratory standards for specimen handling, preparation, quality, and safety.Help maintain productivity, turnaround-time, and workflow expectations.Report case, testing, equipment, or supply issues to the department supervisor or lead technologist for timely resolution. Required Qualifications Associate degree in a related field with completion of a one-year internship or an approved long-term cytology laboratory training program.ASCP certification in cytology required.Active Florida cytology license required.Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.Strong computer, communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining productivity and quality standards. Preferred Qualifications Three or more years of experience as a Cytotechnologist.
