About the Role
Incumbent performs duties under the verbal and written direction of the facility director. Assistance and guidance is normally available at all times. Work is reviewed in terms of results achieved in accordance with standards and procedures.
Responsible for the operation of the Child and Youth Services (CYS) Homework Center in accordance with applicable regulations. As part of the on-ratio staff, provides assistance to participants in strengthening their academic and learning skills.
Responsibilities
- Develops linkages with parents, School Liaison Officer, other CYS Program Associates, and volunteer tutors to ensure the homework center is fully integrated into all applicable program settings.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth.
- Models appropriate behaviors and techniques for working with children/youth.
- Works with senior staff to provide instruction and training to lower-level employees on working in the homework center.
- Provides input to CYS training plan based on observed training needs.
- Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
- Must successfully complete and maintain the Crime Control Act.
- A health assessment is required.
- Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements (transition and/or annual), and demonstrated on-the-job competency are required.
- Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility, as determined by medical authority. Already immune individuals (based on documented receipt of vaccine series or physician-diagnosed illness), or those subject to religious exemption or medical contraindication, are exempt from this requirement.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment.
- Must possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
- Must possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease.
Qualifications
Resumes must clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities as they pertain to this position.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal).
- Possess and maintain a CDA/School-Age/Youth Credential (including Boys and Girls Clubs of America) or Army Youth Practicum.
- Possess 12 months of experience working in a related field OR meet one of the following:
- BA/BS degree with a major emphasis on ECE, Elementary Education, Child Development, Home Economics, Special Education, or a related field.
- Work experience directly related to the duties to be performed.
Education
Proof of education is required at the time of application. Education must be directly related to the position to be filled. General Education courses do not count toward the credit total.

Pay
This job is part of a pay-banded system. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
