CYS Program Associate Homework Lab NF-03.
Incumbent performs duties under the verbal and written direction of the facility director. Assistance and guidance is normally available at all times. Work is reviewed in terms of results achieved in accordance with standards and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate the Child and Youth Services (CYS) Homework Center in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Provide assistance to participants in strengthening their academic and learning skills as part of the on-ratio staff.
- Develop linkages with parents, School Liaison Officer, other CYS Program Associates, and volunteer tutors to ensure the homework center is fully integrated into all applicable program settings.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth.
- Model appropriate behaviors and techniques for working with children/youth.
- Work with senior staff to provide instruction and training to lower-level employees on working in the homework center.
- Provide input to the CYS training plan based on observed training needs.
- Secure supplies, equipment, and facilities.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
- Must successfully complete and maintain the Crime Control Act requirements.
- A health assessment is required.
- Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements (transition and/or annual), and demonstrated on-the-job competency are required.
- Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility, as determined by medical authority. Exemptions apply for already immune individuals, those with religious exemptions, or medical contraindications.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment.
- Travel to on- and off-post locations may be required.
Qualifications
- Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal).
- Be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
- Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease.
- Possess and maintain a CDA/School-Age/Youth Credential (including Boys and Girls Clubs of America) or Army Youth Practicum.
- 12 months of experience working in a related field OR a BA/BS degree with a major emphasis on ECE, Elementary Education, Child Development, Home Economics, Special Education, or a related field.
- Work experience must be directly related to the duties to be performed.
Highly preferred candidates will have a minimum of 1 year (12 months) of experience working in a Child & Youth Services or other Department of Defense childcare facility. Applicants meeting this criterion may be prioritized for consideration.
Education
Proof of education is required at the time of application. Education must be directly related to the position (e.g., ECE, Elementary Education, Child Development, Home Economics, Special Education). General education courses (e.g., psychology, sociology, counseling) do not count toward qualification. Transcripts must be in English, legible, and reflect the name of the school and applicant.
For foreign education, credentials must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in foreign education interpretation and deemed equivalent to a U.S. education program or accepted by a U.S. accredited college or university.
