Cylinder Prep Tech - Plant Operator II

About the role

We are hiring a Plant Operator 2 for the Cylinder Prep Tech position in Plumsteadville, PA. This role involves processing service gas cylinders, preparing them for new gas production, and managing the cylinder yard.

Responsibilities

• Organize and assess incoming gas cylinders.
• Move cylinders to appropriate processing areas.
• Refurbish cylinders by removing labels.
• Paint and apply temperature coating to cylinders.
• Contribute to the visual inspection of gas cylinders.
• Integrate new cylinder valves in both low and high pressure cylinders.
• Utilize and manage vacuum pumps, cylinder driers, cylinder bake out system, high pressure manifolds and associated equipment.
• Support the organization of prepped cylinder inventory ready for production, allocate cylinders to customer orders.
• Maintain the cylinder yard in a clean and orderly manner.
• Store cylinders in appropriate locations by service, cylinder size and valve type.
• Contribute to valve and cylinder inventory.
• Manage caustic scrubber to dispose of toxic gases.
• Load and unload common carrier trucks and Airgas shuttle trucks.
• Maintain the upkeep of cylinder prep equipment.
• Keep a clean and orderly work area.
• Collaborate with the leadership team with regard to maintenance of Health and Safety and ISO Quality programs.
• Contribute to other team priorities as needed.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Comprehension of basic math skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook) or equivalent software.
• Ability to clearly write and fill out a report in English.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, safety data sheets and procedure manuals using the English language.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read pressure and temperature indicators.
• Ability to connect and disconnect filling lines.
• Ability to move gas cylinders.
• Work in a team environment, make decisions, and solve problems.
• Ability to work all shifts; subject to all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to focus.

Skills

• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
