About the role
Cooley’s Cyber/Data/Privacy (c/d/p) practice group is seeking a midlevel associate who focuses on litigation and/or regulatory enforcement investigations involving privacy and data security matters to join the team in our New York, San Francisco, Chicago, or Washington, DC offices.
Responsibilities
- Engage directly with clients and lead significant projects
- Defend data privacy and security class actions (e.g., Stored Communications Act, wiretapping claims, claims involving allegedly unfair and deceptive trade practices, and data breach class actions)
- Focus on regulatory investigations or litigation involving consumer protection issues (State AG, FTC, and other regulatory agencies)
Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience focusing on regulatory investigations or litigation involving consumer protection issues (State AG, FTC, and other regulatory agencies), and/or be well-versed in defending data privacy and security class actions
- A high level of academic achievement from a nationally recognized law school
- The ability to engage directly with clients and lead significant projects
- General tech fluency
- Impeccable analytical and writing skills
Qualifications
- Experience in regulatory investigations or litigation involving consumer protection issues (State AG, FTC, and other regulatory agencies), and/or defending data privacy and security class actions
- Nationally recognized law school degree
- Ability to engage directly with clients and lead significant projects
- General tech fluency
- Impeccable analytical and writing skills

Pay
The expected annual pay range for this position is $310,000 - $390,000. Final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
