CW Paraeducator (Resource)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Aid in small group and individual pupil instruction.
• Assist the special education teacher in maintaining discipline.
• Support instructional activities conducted by the teacher.
• Escort students between rooms.
• May involve toileting students.
• Supervise students during recess and lunch.
• Aid in the completion of classroom assignments.
• Copy materials for instructional purposes.
• Assist in filing and preparing paperwork.
• Alert teachers to potential issues observed.

Qualification Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
• Two years of college credit OR an associate's (or higher) degree.
• Successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment covering content knowledge in mathematics, reading, and writing, along with an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of these topics.

Physical Demands

• Sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
• Perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
