Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Aid in small group and individual pupil instruction.
- Assist the special education teacher in maintaining discipline.
- Support instructional activities.
- Escort students between rooms.
- May involve toileting students.
- Supervise students during recess and lunch.
- Aid in classroom assignments.
- Copy materials for instructional purposes.
- Help prepare necessary paperwork.
- Alert teachers to potential issues.
Qualification Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
- Two years of college credit or an associate's degree.
- Successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment.
Physical Demands
- Sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Work Environment
- The noise level is typical of classrooms with school children.
- The employee works throughout the school building, on school grounds, and occasionally off campus.
- The paraprofessional is responsible for the safety and well-being of students in their charge.
