CVT I - RN - Cath Lab - CNRVMC
This position is located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA. Full time, 4 ten-hour days or 5 eight-hour days. 10-12 days of call per month, including weekends. Sign-on bonus up to $30,000 and relocation assistance available. Call required with 30-minute response time.
About the role
The RN CVT I assists physicians with direct patient care during catheterization or interventional procedures in the scrub, circulator, and monitor positions. Delivers quality service through a team-oriented, collaborative approach to care for adult and geriatric patients. Prepares patient and technically advanced equipment for advanced invasive procedures.
- Scrubs and assists physician during procedures.
- Advises and plans with physicians on procedural strategies and supplies.
- Assists in emergent conditions and assures patient, physician, and team needs are met during procedure.
- Serves as patient advocate, advising on sedation and pain medication for patient comfort.
- Obtains and sets up procedural supplies and equipment.
- Operates digital x-ray equipment and administers medications under the supervision and guidance of a licensed physician.
- Uses advanced critical thinking skills to manage emergency situations.
- Monitors and interprets EKG and hemodynamics during procedures.
- Inputs data from patient history, labs, and current case proceedings including equipment/supplies and documentation for ACC, conscious sedation, pain management, and medication administration.
- Performs basic data manipulation to obtain value areas, shunt calculation, and cardiac outputs.
- Participates as part of procedure team to provide specific patient care functions such as transport, sheath removal, closure site care, etc.
- Participates in providing and assuring informed consent and patient education.
- Provides Procedural Sedation according to the guidelines set forth in the Carilion Clinic “Procedural Sedation/Analgesia, Care of Patients Receiving” policy for patients greater than 12 years of age.
- Maintains appropriate credential to monitor patients receiving sedation/analgesia.
- Contributes to Carilion Clinic's scorecard, performance improvement activities, and mission.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia required.
- Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
- Must successfully complete AHA ACLS within six months of hire and maintain current certification.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
Pay
Compensation range: $36.87 - $55.31 per hour. Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
