Responsibilities
- Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
- Facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
- Conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances.
- Determine the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
- Prevent the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband.
Requirements
The typical assignments include:
- Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.

- Preventing the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband.
Qualifications
- GS-5: Three (3) years full-time general work experience or a bachelor's degree with education substitution.
- GS-7: One (1) year of specialized full-time work experience or a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
- GS-9: Previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience.
Skills
Specialized skills include:
- Ability to enforce laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of customs, immigration, and agriculture laws.
- Physical fitness and endurance for law enforcement duties.
- Observational and analytical skills.

Pay
Salary varies based on duty location and grade level. GS-5 and GS-7 range from $41,863 - $112,415 per year. Overtime pay is also available.
Schedule
Typical work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
