Responsibilities
- Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
- Facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
- Conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances.
- Determine the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
- Prevent the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband.
Requirements
The role requires a minimum of three (3) years full-time general work experience or a combination of education and experience. Applicants must also have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Qualifications
- GS-5: Experience or education as outlined above.
- GS-7: Experience or education as outlined above, plus one (1) year of specialized full-time work experience.
- GS-9: Previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience.
Skills
Effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential. Physical fitness and the ability to work in various weather conditions are also important.

Pay
Annual base salary varies based on duty location and grade level. The maximum starting salary for a GS-5 is $112,415 per year, and for a GS-7 is $133,425 per year. Overtime pay is also available.
