Customer Support – Hardware Installation Technician – Level I
About the Role
RCG is seeking a Customer Support – Hardware Installation Technician – Level I to provide Customer Service (CS) Field Support for our government customer. This position will support hardware installation, network configuration, site assessments, technical documentation, and end-user support. The successful candidate will work remotely but must be available to report on-site at a customer-designated location as required to perform installations, site surveys, testing, and other field-support activities.
What You'll Do
- Conduct site surveys to assess and document existing network configurations and user requirements
- Assist with the design and optimization of network topologies
- Analyze technical requirements and prepare specifications for hardware acquisitions
- Prepare engineering plans and site installation Technical Design Packages (TDPs)
- Develop and coordinate hardware installation schedules
- Prepare drawings documenting configuration changes at customer sites
- Prepare site installation and test reports
- Configure computers, communications devices, and peripheral equipment
- Install and configure network hardware
- Test installed equipment and troubleshoot basic hardware and connectivity issues
- Train site personnel on the proper use and operation of installed hardware
- Build specialized interconnecting cables as required
- Maintain accurate technical and installation documentation
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year of technical customer support experience
- Experience installing, configuring, or supporting computer hardware, network equipment, communications devices, and peripherals
- Basic knowledge of network configurations and network hardware
- Ability to conduct site surveys and document technical and user requirements
- Ability to read, develop, or maintain technical drawings and installation documentation
- Basic hardware and network troubleshooting skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively to end users
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and coordinate installation activities and schedules
- Available to report on-site at a customer-designated location as required
- Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Public Trust
Work Environment
This position is primarily remote; however, the selected candidate must be available to report on-site at a customer-designated location as required to support site surveys, hardware installations, testing, troubleshooting, and other field-support activities.
Pay
$50,000 – $62,000 annually
