Customer Service Underwriting Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking an Underwriting Supervisor to oversee and monitor the Personal Lines Underwriting team with a strong focus on quality and timeliness. The role involves reviewing exceptions, making determinations based on established underwriting rules, and scheduling work for optimum productivity.

Responsibilities

• Identify training needs and assist in designing training programs for the department and employees
• Monitor and report on processing and phone performance standards for each employee
• Perform monthly underwriting and processing audits for each employee
• Provide input for performance appraisals on processing, underwriting quality, and quantity
• Address any processing or underwriting-related performance issues
• Develop positive and productive relationships with Independent Producers
• Mentor and guide Underwriting staff
• Coordinate efforts with internal business partners in Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Accounting, and Human Resources to ensure operational efficiencies
• Remain continuously logged into the Personal Lines ACD (last in queue)
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• Insurance industry experience
• 3+ years of underwriting experience
• Solid knowledge of technical underwriting
• Ability to work independently on technical and administrative matters in accordance with company policy and procedures
• Leadership, training, and development abilities
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Pay

Estimated compensation range: $50,000–$80,000 per year. Offered compensation will be based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
