About the Role

This position provides assistance and support in the administration of delivering quality customer service, including in-person and telephone communication. A strong sense of integrity, dependability, and urgency is expected. Responsibilities include creating positive first and last impressions, handling customer correspondence, conducting facility tours, and using a computerized registration system with cash handling operations. The role also involves supporting the supervision of recreation programs and facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet citizens and members of the public, ensuring smooth front desk operations and courteous, efficient service.
  • Maintain friendly customer service in all situations.
  • Perform and assist with computerized registration, correspondence, public relations, record keeping, and reports.
  • Answer telephones, provide information, and conduct facility tours.
  • Adhere to assigned work schedules.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with programming, special events, and rentals.
  • Promote facilities, programs, and services to members and guests.
  • Conduct oneself professionally in alignment with City of McKinney’s values and standards.
  • Adhere to all operational policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Resolve customer questions and complaints.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer at each shift.
  • Arrive to work on time as scheduled.
  • Operate standard office equipment.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative, flexible style and ability to work under time pressure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of computer functions and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Cash handling skills and ability to manage a register.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified (or obtain within 30 days of employment).
  • Class C Texas Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must pass a drug screen, job placement assessment, and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to exert light physical effort involving kneeling, crouching, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects and materials of moderate weight (20-50 pounds).
  • Extended periods at a keyboard or workstation.
  • Visual, sound perception, and oral communication ability.
