Customer Sales and Service Representative
Position Summary
Aid customers with part needs, interact to clarify needs, research and recommend parts, provide quotes, and process orders. Generate new and additional sales, and generate leads for Outside Sales. Provide sales support and services to OEMs, industrial companies, heavy equipment customers, etc., where fluid power is used. Experience with automation products, such as actuators, air valves, compressors, and a mechanical background is highly recommended.
Essential Functions
- Process customer orders and quotes via email or phone inquiries.
- Answer delivery inquiries, follow up on purchasing and receiving of specific products, check stock availability, track back orders, and update shipping dates.
- Use worksheets, inventory lists, part number files, and related information to assist customers.
- Gather information about costs, discounts, stock availability, and expedite order inquiries.
- Investigate defects, damages, and incorrect shipments, and follow up on repair statuses.
- Assist walk-in customers with product needs through identification, technical support, and order processing.
- Monitor customer returns, investigate causes, recommend or approve reshipments or credits, and process necessary paperwork.
- Seek and grow business opportunities by qualifying and opening new business accounts using sales techniques to add-on sales, upsell, and provide professional customer service.
- Maintain and develop good customer relationships, continuously striving to improve customer rapport and satisfaction.

- Clear, pleasant, and professional speaking voice for over-the-phone sales and communication.
- Experience in tele sales or outside sales, or a combination of both.
- Product knowledge of fluid power products and repairs.

- Good negotiation and closing skills to drive sales.
- Establish and maintain professional interpersonal relationships with customers and other contacts.
- Provide a professional image over the phone.
- Solid organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities.
- Good problem-solving and reasoning skills.
- Basic computer skills and MS Office package.
- Attend product training seminars.
- Accept responsibility for actions and accept constructive criticism without becoming defensive.
- Proper listening skills and command of the English language.
- High degree of organization.
- Ability to focus on goals and achieve predetermined results.
- Ability to act confidently to facilitate work assignments or defend ideas.
- Education:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Fluid Power or Industrial Distribution degree preferred.
