Custodian Technician

About the Role

12-month/260-day contract (includes vacation, sick, personal days, and paid holidays). 2nd shift (8 hours per day with overtime potential).

Responsibilities

• Maintain an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility; prepare spaces for meetings, classroom activities, and events.
• Perform general cleaning and routine maintenance tasks, including:
  • Removing and disposing of trash from classrooms, offices, restrooms, and other areas.
  • Restocking paper and soap supplies.
  • Completing assigned custodial and maintenance tasks.
• Execute simple, established cleaning tasks and general maintenance.
• Organize spaces, conduct safety inspections, and address safety concerns for property, building, and students.
• Work collaboratively with students, teachers, and staff with a positive attitude.
• Receive and complete work orders for safety, maintenance, and assistance in your assigned area.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (e.g., boxes, crates, bags).
• Respond to building emergencies on call.
• Document regular safety inspections of equipment.
• Assist the food service department with supplies and inventory checks.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Maintenance & Transportation.
• Occasional overtime and Saturday hours for setup of sporting events and school activities.
• Ability/flexibility to drive a school bus route as a substitute on a limited basis, if needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent technical/trade school training in Custodial Services or a related trade.
• Ability to obtain a Bus Driver licensure/CDL.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and safe work practices.
• Preferred: Experience with minor repairs of furniture, equipment, and building areas.
• Preferred: Interest/ability to operate grounds and lawn equipment, perform snow removal, landscaping, and general maintenance.

Pay

$20.26 to $25.26 per hour, based on experience (per LCEA negotiated agreement). Includes membership in the public retirement system.
