About the role
The Saint Paul Police Department is hiring a Custodian Engineer III to perform expert-level work in supervising and directing three or more custodial and custodial engineer workers. This position maintains grounds and buildings by applying advanced knowledge of maintenance procedures, techniques, terminology, and best practices, and provides guidance to others on proper methods.
Responsibilities
- Assess facility maintenance needs and coordinate equipment, tools, supplies, staffing, and work schedules to complete projects and ongoing program responsibilities.
- Operate, maintain, and oversee the safe use of vehicles, equipment, tools, office equipment, and computer software; train staff on proper operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Monitor, maintain, and repair heating and cooling plant systems, and clean and maintain grounds and buildings.
- Evaluate equipment maintenance, replacement, and procurement needs; develop recommendations and resolve operational issues to support efficient and effective maintenance activities.
- Lift, carry, move, and position equipment, tools, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, including maneuvering materials around obstacles and under adverse conditions.
- Apply applicable laws, regulations, standards, manufacturer specifications, policies, and procedures to ensure proper maintenance of grounds, buildings, and related systems.
- Perform work safely and effectively in a variety of environmental and weather conditions.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Requirements
- Four years of progressively responsible experience performing custodial duties, including cleaning buildings and facilities, maintaining grounds, and maintaining heating and cooling systems.
- Must possess a Second Class C Operating Engineer's License.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM.
Pay
$35.27 - $39.14 hourly.
