About the role

This position will perform custodial duties that include, but are not limited to, cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, removing trash, making minor repairs, and exterminating insects and rodents in order to maintain a clean and sanitary environment at a long-term care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Service, clean, or supply restrooms
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
  • Gather and empty trash
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
  • Mix water and detergents or chemicals in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
  • Dust and wash windows

Ideal Candidate

  • The ability to provide customer and personal service
  • The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs, and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • The ability to work independently, guiding oneself with little supervision and depending on oneself to get things done

Requirements

  • No prior experience or training required
  • Work is performed in an institutional setting both indoors and outdoors in inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset people within the facility
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
  • Position may be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays
  • State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including masking and staff vaccination

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an indoor setting and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or caustic chemicals
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, transferring, and/or carrying up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Position may be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays

Salary: $15.45 - $23.18 Hourly ($32,136 - $48,204 Annually)
