Salary: $15.45 - $23.18 hourly ($32,136 - $48,204 annually). This position is a Pay Band C1.

About the role

Provide housekeeping services in a long-term care facility for Veterans to maintain a clean, sanitary, and odor-free environment. Perform routine janitorial services.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and buffing floors
  • Cleaning walls, mirrors, windows, and bathrooms
  • Dusting offices and furniture
  • Vacuuming carpets and upholstery
  • Collecting and disposing of garbage
  • Using proper disinfectants to control odor and germs
  • Attending trainings and meetings

Customers

The primary customers are Veterans, their widows, and Gold Star Parents who reside in the facility due to failing health.

Requirements

  • Current valid New Mexico driver’s license
  • Six months of cleaning experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check pursuant to the New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act
  • Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or obtain one as a condition of continued employment
  • Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training
  • Must sign and observe a confidentiality agreement
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
  • Occasional travel for training and meetings, including driving a State of New Mexico-owned motor vehicle
  • Working hours may include weekends, holidays, overtime, and callback hours

Working Conditions

  • Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors in inclement weather
  • Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT)
  • Frequent walking throughout the facility and interaction with residents, staff, and the public
  • Periods of walking, standing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and stretching
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead
  • Exposure to hazards such as dust, high noise levels, fumes, and rodents
  • Exposure to contagious viruses, diseases, bodily fluids, and stressful situations
  • May encounter physical and/or verbal abuse
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and carry up to 51 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility to climb step stools/ladders
  • Good vision and hearing (normal or corrected)
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as required, including respirators
