About the role

This position is responsible for general cleaning duties of a school or administrative building. Tasks are specific with recurring assignments and are performed under general supervision of the Building Operations Supervisor. May be required to work after hours, weekends, and holidays. Regular schedule is Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning duties to include inside fixtures, floors, walls, and windows.
• Assists with school lunch coverage (day shift) and cleaning of cafeteria.
• Performs cleaning duties to include moving furniture, stripping floors, snow removal, and trash removal.
• Monitors halls and restrooms to ensure adequate stock levels.
• Secures building where applicable.
• Keeps grounds and outside walkways clean around the immediate perimeter of the building.
• Provides coverage for after school and weekend activities.
• Sets up and tears down for school events.
• May occasionally assist Building Operations Supervisor (BOS) and maintenance personnel with building repairs.
• Unlocks and locks facilities as required.
• Reports maintenance issues and preventative repairs to BOS daily.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and cleaning standards.
• Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment.
• Ability to read, communicate, understand, and follow written instructions in standard English; write simple sentences; and comprehend product labeling.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently with machinery.
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
• Ability to speak effectively and communicate in the English language.
• Education, training, or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Must successfully complete the following background investigations/tests:
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal History Investigation
  • State Police Criminal History Investigation
  • Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation
  • Tuberculosis Screening/Test

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, handle paper files, records, computer and equipment controls, talk, and hear.
• Required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Must frequently lift up to 45 pounds and/or move up to 75 pounds.
• Must possess the strength to operate commercial cleaning equipment.

Work Environment

• May work near moving mechanical parts.
• Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally exposed to hot or cold conditions and risk of electrical shock.
• Some work is performed outside.
• Noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Pay

$31,789.74 - $50,818.21 per year

Schedule

• 8 hours per day
• 260 days per year
