About the role
The Custodian, Day Porter supports a clean, safe, and welcoming workplace by performing daily custodial, cleaning, and facility support services across Applied Medical campuses. This role contributes to employee experience and operational continuity by maintaining common areas, restocking supplies, managing waste, and supporting on-site activities throughout the workday. The Custodian, Day Porter works collaboratively within Facilities and Custodial teams while providing consistent, on-site service.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of cubicles, conference rooms, restrooms, cafeterias, and mother’s rooms throughout the day.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors and perform spot cleaning of carpeted areas as needed.
- Clean glass, mirrors, televisions, desks, and high-touch surfaces to support a professional work environment.
- Refill and clean coffee machines and maintain beverage stations in common areas.
- Monitor and refill hand sanitizer stations across campus.
- Collect trash and recycling from restrooms, conference rooms, common areas, cafeterias, and workspaces.
- Set up additional trash, recycling, and cardboard collection bins to support outdoor or on-site events.
- Monitor, restock, and organize janitorial supply closets, including paper products and cleaning supplies.
- Replenish bottled water for conference rooms and maintain break room supplies such as coffee and tea stations.
- Monitor and refill printer paper and maintain whiteboard markers in conference rooms and shared workspaces.
- Drive company vehicles including pickup trucks, vans, or passenger vehicles to support custodial and facilities operations.
Success in this role
- Facilities remain clean, organized, and presentable throughout the workday.
- Common areas and restrooms are consistently stocked and maintained without service interruptions.
- Waste and recycling are removed efficiently and in accordance with campus standards.
- Supplies are replenished proactively, reducing downtime or shortages.
- Campus events and daily operations receive timely custodial support.
- Team members experience a safe, clean, and well-maintained work environment.
Requirements
- Speak and understand English to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
- Maintain a valid California driver’s license and meet requirements for a Department of Motor Vehicles check.
- Lift up to fifty pounds safely and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
Preferred qualifications
- Demonstrate basic computer skills for task tracking or communication support.
