Custodian 3
This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligible.
About the role
As the Custodian 3 for Auxiliary Facilities Services, you will play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and care of assigned facilities. Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of custodial duties while helping to ensure departmental cleaning standards are consistently met. In this role, you will also provide leadership and guidance to assigned Custodians by training, instructing, and assisting team members as needed. You will work closely with the supervisor, providing support with daily operations and departmental needs. Depending on operational requirements, you may participate in interviewing and recommending candidates for hire, conducting employee training, assigning and scheduling work, responding to leave requests, contributing to performance evaluations, and recommending corrective or disciplinary actions.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of custodial duties to maintain cleanliness and appearance of assigned facilities.
- Ensure departmental cleaning standards are consistently met.
- Provide leadership and guidance to assigned Custodians through training, instruction, and assistance.
- Support supervisor with daily operations and departmental needs.
- Participate in interviewing and recommending candidates for hire (as needed).
- Conduct employee training, assign and schedule work, and respond to leave requests.
- Contribute to performance evaluations and recommend corrective or disciplinary actions.
Requirements
- Physical ability to perform required work.
- One year of experience in housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance, or custodial work OR one year of experience as a Lead OR equivalent education/experience.
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Pay
Monthly Salary: $3,485 to $4,633 (Range 38 Steps A - M). Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. The salary reflects the full range for this position; individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
