About the Role

The custodial role maintains a clean environment for employees and clients. Under immediate supervision of the Building Maintenance Supervisor, this position routinely cleans and maintains various facilities.

Responsibilities

• Dusts, sweeps, mops, strips, washes, and buffs floors
• Vacuums and shampoos carpets
• Scrubs sinks, toilets, countertops, walls, and ceilings
• Replenishes soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue
• Washes and/or polishes windows, sanitizes drinking fountains, cleans partition walls/dividers, mirrors, and glass
• Dusts, polishes, and cleans furniture and equipment
• Maintains custodial closets with equipment and stock at every facility on base
• Washes and dries custodial items such as rags and mops
• Removes trash indoors and outdoors, including recycling containers to central collection on base
• Replaces light bulbs, performs minor painting, adjusts hinges, replaces shower heads and miscellaneous bath items, and latches
• Inventories, orders, and/or stocks supplies with the sourcing analyst
• Maintains cleaning tools and equipment, secures doors and windows
• Performs general groundskeeping maintenance, including mowing grass, raking leaves, trimming hedges, shoveling snow, and operating vehicles with mounted snow plows or RTVs
• Checks basic safety controls on heating/air conditioning systems and reports malfunctions or need for professional assistance
• Reports necessary repairs of buildings and facilities to supervisor
• Travels to attend meetings, conferences, and trainings
• Operates a personal computer to produce correspondence, reports, and other documents
• Maintains logs, records, and files

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License
• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition and subtraction
• Ability to read and speak common English vocabulary

In accordance with Section 124.11(B)(2), revised code, this classification is determined to be an unskilled labor class and is exempt from written examination.
