About the Role
The Custodial Worker is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and routine maintenance of our facilities, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate TSTC's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in all interactions.
- Perform cleaning procedures using various methods, materials, and equipment for different environments.
- Apply proper sanitation practices to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Follow proper waste disposal methods, including recycling and handling hazardous waste.
- Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
- Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
- Coordinate with other departments to address facility needs and provide regular updates to supervisors.
- Perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30-60 lbs), often in awkward positions.
- Follow all safety requirements, use protective equipment, and manage exposure to moderate hazards such as dust, grease, noise, and temperature extremes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six months of previous custodial experience.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.
Working Conditions
- Significant physical effort and strength required daily, often involving awkward postures and moderate lifting (30-60 lbs).
- Regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
- Occasional exposure to minor hazards controlled by safety precautions.
