Custodial Worker

About the Role

The Custodial Worker is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and routine maintenance of our facilities, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate TSTC's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in all interactions.
• Perform cleaning procedures using various methods, materials, and equipment for different environments.
• Apply proper sanitation practices to maintain a hygienic environment.
• Follow proper waste disposal methods, including recycling and handling hazardous waste.
• Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
• Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
• Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
• Coordinate with other departments to address facility needs and provide regular updates to supervisors.
• Perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30-60 lbs), often in awkward positions.
• Follow all safety requirements, use protective equipment, and manage exposure to moderate hazards such as dust, grease, noise, and temperature extremes.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of previous custodial experience.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.

Working Conditions

• Significant physical effort and strength required daily, often involving awkward postures and moderate lifting (30-60 lbs).
• Regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
• Occasional exposure to minor hazards controlled by safety precautions.
