About the role
Custodial Worker in University Housing at the University of South Carolina. The role is responsible for maintaining the quality of living in designated residence halls, responding to emergencies, and supporting special events.
Responsibilities
- Maintains wood, ceramic tile, cement, brick, and linoleum floors
- Responds to emergencies to extract water from floors and carpeted areas during flooding to prevent water damage
- Assists with the preparation for and clean-up of University special events
- Applies total quality management/continuous improvement principles and processes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of floor care and carpet care procedures and experience operating motorized equipment
- Ability to work independently and with team members
- Knowledge and skills of industrial custodial duties and institutional regulations
- Ability to carry out duties in a timely manner
- Ability to use housekeeping chemicals according to label instructions and in a safe manner, including proper disposal of chemicals
- Knowledge of blood-borne pathogens and material safety data sheets
Preferred Qualifications
- Driver’s license preferred
