Custodial Worker 1

About the Role

Join the Maintenance/Custodial Department of the Southeastern Veterans Center, one of six residential long-term care facilities operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Military & Veterans Affairs. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will help create a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for elderly and disabled military Veterans, their spouses, staff, and visitors. This role is ideal for a positive, productive individual who takes pride in cleaning and assisting others.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all restrooms and restock essential supplies.
• Perform general cleaning tasks in resident rooms, offices, and public spaces, including mopping, dusting, polishing, sweeping, and buffing.
• Empty waste containers, dispose of trash and recyclables, and transport infectious waste to designated areas.
• Pick up or deliver cleaning supplies and move furniture or equipment as needed for cleaning or room rearrangement.
• Maintain a safe work environment, report hazards or issues, and follow all departmental safety rules.
• Remove snow, clear debris from walkways, and support related outdoor maintenance activities.

Schedule

• Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week).
• Work hours: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch, including rotating days and weekends.
• No telework option available for this position.

Requirements

• Ability to perform essential job functions, including moving and lifting heavy furniture.
• Satisfactory completion of a medical examination may be required as part of the conditional offer of employment.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. A conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.
