About the role

The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight, coordination, and quality control of custodial operations within the Student Union. This role supervises housekeeping staff, assigns and monitors work, verifies time and attendance, and ensures all services meet established cleanliness, safety, and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise housekeeping staff
• Assign and monitor work
• Verify time and attendance
• Ensure all services meet established cleanliness, safety, and operational standards
• Provide leadership through interviewing and training staff
• Conduct performance evaluations
• Recommend personnel actions in coordination with Human Resources
• Ensure compliance with the OSU Hazardous Communication Program
• Maintain MSDS documentation
• Deliver specialized and on-the-job training on equipment, chemicals, and safety procedures
• Conduct regular inspections to maintain quality control
• Manage custodial equipment and supplies
• Test and evaluate new products
• Establish floor care schedules to ensure uniform cosmetic appearance of tile and carpeted surfaces
• Serve as a liaison with Student Union personnel
• Respond to occupant concerns
• Report building maintenance issues
• Maintain required departmental records
• Assist the Director and Assistant Director for Building Operations with planning, budgeting, meetings, and overall departmental needs
• Regular physical presence during shifts to support staff, address non-routine service needs, and ensure a safe, productive work environment

Requirements

• High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
• Two years of related work experience
• Post-secondary education may be substituted for years of experience
• Physical ability to move throughout the building

Pay

$15.50 - $20.50

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
