Custodial Supervisor

Indian River State College is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Custodial Supervisor to lead custodial services across assigned campus locations. In this vital leadership role, you will oversee daily custodial operations, supervise and develop staff, ensure facilities are maintained to the highest standards, and contribute to a positive campus experience for thousands of students, employees, and visitors. Responsibilities

• Oversee daily custodial operations for the College at assigned location(s).
• Train, lead, and supervise custodial staff.
• Assign and monitor daily work activities.
• Ensure the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of College facilities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, procedures, and codes.
• Support the safe, efficient, and effective operation of campus facilities.
• Perform daily supervision of all custodial full-time and part-time staff employees to ensure quality work is being performed; schedule employees; assign tasks; ensure all custodial staff are properly trained on all cleaning equipment; troubleshoot any problems they might have.
• Prepare employee appraisal evaluations.
• Prepare annual equipment budget requests; order equipment and supplies.
• Verify employees' time sheets for the Department.
• Approve submitted Department leave forms.
• Make recommendations for improvements or changes in Department operations.
• Back-up employees when necessary.
• Travel to any campus locations to assist with various site needs.
• Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate degree; five (5) years of related work experience in custodian supervision; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Valid Florida driver’s license.

Skills

• Knowledge of custodial operations including building and floor cleaning techniques and operation of all types of floor maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of supervisory skills and methods.
• Knowledge of general custodial responsibilities and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
• Skill in applying custodial techniques and using equipment.
• Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.
• Skill in organizing, leading others, training, and prioritizing.
• Ability to be flexible, use initiative, be efficient, give directions, work independently as well as with others, be self-motivated, and super
