General Duties

  • Demonstrates knowledge of relevant departmental, College, and University procedures.
  • Performs tasks such as documentation and information types, proofreading, data entry, filing, and report preparation.
  • Communicates with internal and external parties, provides receptionist services, and assists with special event arrangements.
  • Assists with administrative tasks like time and leave calculations, purchasing, and mail distribution.
  • Supports the training and supervision of office staff and volunteers.
  • Performs transaction processing, including report preparation and financial transaction processing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including maintenance of office equipment and coordination of office work.

Assignment Level 4

  • Performs moderately complex office or secretarial work in various units of CUNY.
  • Serves as secretary to an executive or small group of professionals.
  • Initiates administrative procedures on behalf of the department.
  • Administers specialized areas requiring unique training and/or experience.
  • Interviews and recommends office support staff.
  • Develops record-keeping systems and trains office employees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience performing general office work, which may be met by one of the following:
    • Satisfactory, full-time experience performing general office work.
    • One year of satisfactory, full-time experience performing general office work and 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university.
    • An associate’s degree or 60 college credits from an accredited college or university.
  • Passage of a qualifying Work Experience Test.
  • English Language Proficiency.

Compensation and Benefits

  • New Hire: $36,700*
  • Incumbent: $41,472
  • Salary suppressed for the first 24 months of employment only.
  • Grant-funded through June 30, 2028.
  • Benefits include comprehensive health, retirement, and tax-deferred savings plans.
