Culinary Lead, Limited Term
About the role
The Culinary Lead is responsible for ensuring a safe and sanitary work environment and monitoring proper food handling practices. They assign and oversee daily work to ensure tasks are completed, identify, address, and escalate workflow and safety concerns as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Assigns and oversees daily work to ensure tasks are completed.
- Identifies, addresses, and escalates workflow and safety concerns as appropriate.
- Performs a variety of food service activities as delegated by supervisor, including production support and catering.
- Safely cleans and operates a variety of preparation and production equipment.
- Interprets, implements, and follows HACCP and other food safety regulations.
- Works with the leadership team to implement safety and improvement efforts to reduce costs, improve quality, safety, engagement, delivery, and efficiency.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in the culinary field.
- Demonstrated participation in Continuous Process Improvement activities.
- Two (2) years of experience in department OR previous lead experience in food service.
Qualifications
- Experience practicing whole foods cooking.
- Washington State Food and Beverage Worker’s Permit, or obtain within 15 days of employment.
- Preferred: ServSafe certification, or obtain within 120 days of employment.
Skills
- Cross-functional worker across multiple roles.
- Experience working in healthcare or with modified/restrictive diets and/or nutrition-related terminology.
- One to two (1-2) years experience training, teaching, or coaching.
- Ability to make substitutions in an ever-changing environment.
- Attention to detail (ability to detect ingredient changes).

Pay
Compensation Range: $24.77 - $37.16 per hour. Salary Information: This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
