Responsibilities

• Exercises professional judgment in performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures while adhering to radiation safety principles.
• Delivers appropriate patient care, recognizing conditions to ensure successful completion of procedures.
• Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each imaging modality.
• Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
• Assesses patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs, providing instructions to achieve cooperation and desired results.
• Performs proper patient identification, acquires clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation.
• Positions patient and equipment, manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
• Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification.
• Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
• Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
• Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without power injectors.
• Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Administers medical aid in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication or other emergencies.
• Applies standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
• Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
• Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
• Ensures the safety of all customers and maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and standards.
• Complies with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
• Provides patient transport and maintains well-stocked and organized work areas.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ CT experience and experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Advanced imaging experience and proficiency, including 3D Lab or IR imaging, or Cardiac imaging.
  • Site proctor/preceptor for onboarding new hires and cross-training.
  • Primary responsibility: Dual imaging roles, with current proficiency and routinely performing in a secondary modality.
• Maintains current AHA BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida.
• Additionally, must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (R) and valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (CT); or
  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB) in (CT); or
  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB) in (CNMT) and valid American Registry of Radiologic Certification (CT).
