CT Technologist

About the Role

The CT Technologist I performs routine computed tomography (CT) examinations in accordance with established protocols, policies, and safety standards, with guidance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care and support services under routine or emergent conditions, utilizing core knowledge, skills, abilities, and available resources.
• Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician-ordered exams to support appropriate imaging.
• Safely administers contrast per protocol.
• Recognizes basic imaging artifacts and implements corrective measures independently or under guidance.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards.
• Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting.
• Performs operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements.
• Accurately documents in EMR/PACS.
• Actively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices.
• Supports inventory tasks as needed to ensure supplies are available.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Level I

• Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology, or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT, or completion of a JRCERT-accredited Military Educational Program.
• Experience: No prior CT experience required.
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ARRT(RT) certification required within 12 months of hire.

Level II

• Education: Associate's Degree required.
• Experience: At least 3 years of CT experience required.
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association and ARRT(RT)(CT) certification required upon hire.

Level III

• Education: Associate's Degree required.
• Experience: At least 5 years of CT experience required.
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association and ARRT(RT)(CT) certification required upon hire.

Skills

• Foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic radiologic technology concepts, and CT-related terminology.
• Applies core CT theory, practices, and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing, analysis, and documentation with general supervision or assistance.
• Effective communication skills to exchange basic information with patients, families, and team members.
• Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non-clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support.
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
• Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.
• Consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.
• Sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
