About the role

As a CT Technologist, you will perform diagnostic CT exams on patients using specialized equipment. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and high-quality imaging results. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of imaging techniques, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

Day shifts: 07:30 - 18:00; Week 1: Sunday, Wednesday - Friday; Week 2: Wednesday - Saturday. Incumbent may be hired at a Level I or II, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Performs exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Completes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality.
  • Assists and instructs students and other CT Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
  • Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.
  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
  • Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.
  • Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.
  • Functions as education liaison for new students, trainer for new employee orientation, Superuser for equipment, and hospital/system group discussions or committees as the CT representative as delegated per local department manager.

Requirements

CT Tech Minimum Qualifications

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(RT)(R) Radiography Certification/Registration
  • Relevant State licensure (where required)
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers

CT Tech II Minimum Qualifications

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - (ARRT)(R)
  • Relevant State licensure (where required)
  • IV Competency within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Proficiency in 5 of the following areas: Computed Tomography Certification/Registration, Interventional CT, Cryo/microwave ablations, CT Coronary Angiography, TAVR, TMVR, Cardiac, Stroke perfusion imaging, Pediatric CT (less than 15 years of age) in at least 80% of patient workload. Note: Must complete a minimum of 5 cases per specialty procedure accompanied with documented skills pass off by a lead CT tech.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions requiring verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly, particularly during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer use and typing.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, including bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment (up to heavy items).
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining/distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment (including heavy items).
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $39.16 - $60.42. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
