About the role
As a CT Technologist at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center, you will perform CT scans, ensuring the highest level of customer service and image quality while managing the entire patient procedure. This includes preparing patients, starting IVs for contrast administration, using the power injector, and retrieving necessary patient history and orders. You will communicate effectively with patients, their families, physicians, and radiologists, providing crucial signs and symptoms pertinent to the exam. The role involves coordinating patient flow, maintaining equipment and departmental work areas, and upholding ALARA principles to minimize radiation dose. You will also contribute to after-hour coverage through on-call rotations and support quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform CT exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring high-quality care.
- Take patient history and retrieve necessary orders or prior images.
- Provide patient history, signs, and symptoms appropriate to the exam to the radiologist.
- Complete documentation accurately.
- Coordinate patient flow and ensure all daily exams are completed.
- Support ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles to minimize radiation dose.
- Inform patients about procedures and answer questions.
- Interact and professionally communicate with physicians, patients, and family members.
- Start IVs for contrast administration and use the power injector.
- Prepare procedure trays with appropriate supplies.
- Support and participate in quality (QI) and performance improvement (PI) plans.
- Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages served.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date).
- ARRT-CT (Computed Tomography) certification.
- ARRT-R (Radiography) certification.
- Associate Degree.
- One year of post-graduate experience preferred but not required.
