Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility with 25 inpatient beds in Paris, IL, and multiple outpatient clinics including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. About the role
This position functions as a member of the surgical team in the role of scrub person, working under the direction of a surgeon. The incumbent prepares instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for surgical procedures, anticipates the needs of the surgeon, ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure, and maintains vigilance over the sterile field.
Responsibilities
- Sets up the sterile table using proper instruments, packs, supplies, equipment, and medication/solutions needed for the procedure.
- Assists the surgical team in the OR to prepare the patient, the operating table, and the surgery area for the procedure.
- Ensures adequate supplies of scrubs, gowns, gloves, etc., are available for the procedure.
- Assists the surgeon throughout the procedure with instruments and retraction, maintaining the highest sterile techniques.
- Ensures all equipment on the sterile field is working properly, including assembly of equipment required for the specific surgery.
- Performs appropriate counts with the circulator prior to surgery and before closing the incision, according to current policy.
- Assists with between-case clean-up and prepares for the next case.
- Monitors and stocks supplies in the OR and central supply without overstocking.
- Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization using germicides and sterilizing equipment.
- Completes clinical competency skills where assigned and those where cross-trained.

Requirements
- Graduate from a surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP for AREC/STSA/ACS.
- One year of recent surgical experience as a Certified Scrub Technician preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
Pay
Pay ranges from $21.351/hour to $34.161/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience).
