OR Tech - CST/First Assistant

Job Summary

Talented Medical Solutions is seeking a Certified First Assist/Surgical Tech and BLS certified individual for a 13-week assignment in Parker, AZ. The position requires experience in general, podiatry, and orthopedics, with a preference for First Assist experience.

About the Role

This role functions as a surgical first assistant to the surgeon, working under their direction and supervision. Duties include preparing the operating room, setting up instruments, and assisting with patient care.

Responsibilities

• Interacts professionally with patients and families
• Provides verbal reassurance and explanations to patients
• Adapts procedures to meet individual patient needs
• Anticipates surgeon's needs during the intraoperative phase
• Carries out medical/surgical asepsis during treatments/procedures
• Collaborates with other members of the nursing team
• Prepares room and instruments 15 minutes before surgery
• Carries out suturing, stapling, clipping, and draining tasks
• Maintains a sterile instrument table and covers patients with surgical drapes

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited Surgical Technician Program
• Completed a First Assist Program
• Current Certification as a Surgical Technician/First Assist
• BLS Certification
• Two (2) years of Surgical Technician experience

Qualifications

• Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
• Physical agility and quick reaction time
• Adequate hearing and visual acuity
• Fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Communication skills (reading, writing, speaking)
• Periodic use of personal computer
