Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring compliance with the COA's standards and guidelines.
• Assist in coordinating activities and committees to ensure stated program goals are achieved.
• Involved with the interview and selection of students as needed.
• Assists in coordination of the clinical program, including but not limited to scheduling SRNAs accordingly.
• Communicates with clinical rotation sites for evaluation of students.
• Reviews student anesthetic management plans and aids in performing clinical and didactic evaluations of the students.
• Acts as a professional role model for all nurse anesthesia students.
• Promotes staff and preceptor development. Acts as a liaison between the staff and the SONA.
• Supports PD and APD with planning and acting for students in a remediation process.
• Participates in didactic and clinical instruction.

Requirements

• Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).
• Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNP/DNAP) or currently enrolled in a program conferring a Doctoral Degree.
• Experience as a CRNA in a clinical role for a minimum of 1 year required, 3 years preferred.
• Preceptor experience required, lecture experience preferred.
• Creativity, flexibility, adaptability, and conflict resolution abilities are all required.
• Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures and/or backgrounds is required.
• Strong computer literacy and experience with use of Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel is preferred.

Physical Demands

• Demonstrate intellectual-conceptual, integrative, and quantitative abilities; skills in observation, communication, and motor functions; and mature behavioral and social attributes.
• Sensory: Detect and interpret changes in monitoring alarms and equipment. Functional vision, hearing, no impairment of sense of smell, and tactile sensation must be adequate. Observe a patient accurately at a distance and close.
• Communication: Speak, hear, and observe. Communicate effectively—includes speech, reading, and writing.
• Motor: Sufficient motor function to elicit pertinent information. Stand for long periods and wear lead as needed for fluoroscopy, X-ray cases. Ability to lift 25 pounds and reach above and below shoulder height. Negotiate patient care environments and move self/patients between anesthesia locations. Coordination of both gross and fine muscular movements, equilibrium, and functional use of the senses of touch and vision.
• Intellectual-Conceptual, Integrative, and Quantitative Abilities: Measurement, calculation, reasoning, analysis, and synthesis. Problem-solving requires all these intellectual abilities. Comprehend 3-dimensional relationships and understand spatial relationships.
• Behavioral and Social Attributes: Possess the emotional health required for full utilization of intellectual abilities, exercise of good judgment, prompt completion of responsibilities, and ability to function effectively under stress. Adapt to changing environments, display flexibility, and learn to function in the face of uncertainties inherent in clinical problems.

Schedule

• Full-time day rotation (Monday through Friday).
• 40 scheduled hours per week.
