About the Role
This position is responsible for providing didactic and clinical instruction in the nurse anesthesia program. This is a 0.2 FTE position.
Responsibilities
- Develops, designs, and delivers instruction in nurse anesthesia clinical and didactic courses.
- Engages in teaching, service, and scholarship.
- Participates in mentoring and advising students.
- Maintains office hours.
- Evaluates student progress in the classroom, clinical, and laboratory setting.
- Participates in development and maintenance of program records and databases.
- Assists with student recruitment, interviews, and admissions.
- Participates in implementation, evaluation, and revision of the nurse anesthesia didactic and clinical curriculum (10% Administration).
- Assists with maintaining the nurse anesthesia program in compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Performs administrative tasks as delegated by the Program Director.
- Participates in program, Grant Medical Center, and Otterbein University Division of Nursing committee work as assigned.
- Performs clinical duties as described in CRNA Job Description for Grant Medical Center (50% Clinical).
- Serves as a liaison and resource for students, clinical faculty, and affiliated sites.
- Assigns, supervises, and coordinates student activities at clinical sites.
- Documents and maintains records monitoring student clinical progress.
- Maintains expertise in the field by participating in clinical practice, professional organizations, and attending educational programs.
- Establishes collaborative relationships with individuals and agencies that affiliate with the nurse anesthesia program.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing (Required).
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association.
- CRNA - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio.
- Holds a current, unencumbered APRN from the Ohio State Board of Nursing to practice as a CRNA.
- Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.
- Certified by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
- Recertified by the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.
- 3 years of experience as a CRNA.
- ACLS Certification.
- Experience teaching nurse anesthesia students.
